Day 1 of Buhari's Presidency... Boko Haram launches simultaneous night attacks on Riyom, Plateau State and Maiduguri

Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, came under the attack of Boko Haram militants on Saturday morning as the terrorists stormed the town with bombs and heavy shootings.

Five residents reportedly died during the attack while the casualties among the militants has yet to be ascertained.

 

Unconfirmed reports also claimed that 10 persons were killed in the areas that were attacked.

 

In Plateau State No fewer than 500 gunmen on Thursday attacked Shonong village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State and burnt about 250 houses in the community.

The attack, which took place at about 9.00pm, took residents unawares as they were preparing to go to bed.

A member of the community, Isaac Kahwun, said the gunmen came as usual and started shooting sporadically to announce their presence.
