Another Boko Haram in the making.........Islamic group alerts Government on weapon-brandishing sect
The Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Islamic Society (ASWAJIS)
has expressed concern over the presence of what it called
weapons-brandishing sect in Kaduna State and called on the government to
take proactive measures against the members.
The communique issued after a training
session for Islamic preachers in Kaduna yesterday and signed by Sheik
Binyamin Yusuf and Abdul Waheed Abdul Azeez, chairman and secretary of
the Society respectively warned that “Islam in Nigeria is facing
challenges from within because of the dangerous ideologies introduced by
different sects.
“Our concern is on the activities of a sect which
brandishes different types of weapons on the streets of some cities in
Kaduna State, especially in Zaria. They take laws into their hands and
threaten the peace-loving people of the state. We call on the government
to take proactive measures to nip the potential threat in the bud. In
the same vein, the group wants immediate action against the blasphemous
and heretical elements in Kano, that may become a threat in the near
future. We also urge Muslim preachers to strictly adhere to the
provisions of the Qur’an and Sunnah”, the group said.
The group
commended the federal government under the leadership of President
Muhammad Buhari, in the fight against insurgency while urging it to take
action on corruption.
