Really? APC Facing Post-Revolutionary Crisis – Shehu Sani
Human Right Activist and Senator representing
Kaduna Central senatorial district in the Senate,Shehu Sani has described the
crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a
post-revolutionary crisis that always comes after a change.
Senator Sani, who spoke when he paid a courtesy visit to the former governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, noted that countries, including South Africa, Cuba, among others, where revolution had taken place, experienced such crisis.
The Senator, who questioned the rationale behind the involvement of the Police in the forgery case rocking the Senate, said matter which was purely a legislative matter would be resolved.
Senator Sani said, “We are hoping that the crisis threatening the party at the National Assembly would become an experience that would further strengthen the party and the nation.” “As a senator representing Kaduna Central, I will not in any way align myself with any anti-people policy. We came to power on the mantra of change, and that change must be truly reflective of the interest and desires of the common people.”
Senator Shehu Sanni, cautioned against any action that would lead to the arrest of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, because doing so would be counter-productive.
He said that if for any reason
Ekweremadu was removed, the Senate may continue to witness stern
opposition as the APC alone cannot form the required quorum to pass
bills....He said, “Evicting him will trigger
another issue. We have to learn to live with what we have for the smooth
running of the senate and the administrations of President Muhammadu
Buhari”
Although Sanni noted that he would have
preferred that the APC occupied the presiding officers positions in the
Senate but that the party should accept the present composition and move
on.
