American diplomat calls President Buhari Islamic leader
A former American diplomat Richard Grenell has addressed the new Nigerian President as an Islamic leader, Richard Grenell, an American media
commentator and former diplomat. He is the longest serving U.S.
Spokesman at the United Nations and briefly served as national security
spokesman for Mitt Romney in his 2012 campaign for president of the United States.
In a tweet he described President Buhari as an Islamic leader because of his past as a regional leader and the violence that marred the 2011 elections. Expectedly this has pitched Mr Grenell and some supporters of the President who felt insulted by the term Islamic leader attached to their President.
Here are some of the arguments.

John Kerry to attend the inauguration of Nigeria's new Islamic leader. The man Boko Haram wanted as its negotiator. https://t.co/GJixxFolNU

The last violent ending to a campaign was when the Islamist lost. Islamist won, no violence. See the pattern? https://t.co/QT9RpXI6ZT

Attribute of free speech is not to misinform. You're free to talk but there are consequences when it defames another https://t.co/HGFnk08EEZ

if you take US foreign aid then we get to state our opinions on who is running the country receiving our money https://t.co/BPg3DpCuJ9

No. This is not dissent. This is turning the truth on its head. The President isn't Nigeria's new Islamic leader. https://t.co/4CQnZX01eZ

Great democracies have debates. Silencing critics & intimidating thru name-calling isn't an attribute of a democracy https://t.co/uuJSPfVXkp

@i_am_dayoB It is OK to play American politics. Just don't do it in a way that could jeopardize innocent Nigerian lives @RichardGrenell.

If free speech "jeopardizes innocent" lives then maybe you should re-think your reaction to words. https://t.co/kdASvUlLsB

Lmao that's our President. We need to seek your extradition for immediate prosecution. https://t.co/Hj00SLSOXC

@TOO_Mosron @AbangMercy of course not. Maybe you missed the point. Peaceful transitions happen when the losing team is for democracy.
