The Rivers State Government has dissociated itself from the Protest today in Port Harcourt by the Indigenous People of Biafra...In a statement released this evening the Government blamed some unnamed Opposition politician as the sponsors of the protest.

The Rivers State Government in the strongest terms dissociates itself from the protests in parts of Port Harcourt by some persons motivated by opposition politicians in the state with the failed aim of creating unnecessary political tension.

Rivers State is one of the Federating Units of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is not part of any separatist movement and will never be.

The Government and People of Rivers State remain committed to a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
It is unfortunate that unpopular opposition elements are willing to go to any length to score cheap political points.
